KAZAN DETHRONEMENT OF WESTERN HEGEMONISM: THE IMPACT OF BRICS+ AND BRICS CURRENCY
The Kazan summit in Russia, with participation of 32 countries, 9 member States and 34 countries having officially applied for membership, the BRICS has outgrown its expectation with potential to expand. This an organisation formed as an alternative to the so-called hegemonic rules-based Western aligned system. The significance of Kazan Summit is in the number of participants and States willing to be members of the organisation. Definitely it tells story. Most countries have lost trust with American-led Unipolar-Rules-Based global system and are looking for a better alternative. Russia, China, Brazil, India and South are now providing the alternative through an equitable system of BRICS+ in a peacefully unified Multipolar System functioning under the umbrella of International Law, within the United Nations formula. An end to the policy of Unilateralism, normal exhibited in the colonial behaviour of Western countries Britain, Germany, France, United States et al, in dealing with Interstate issues, and a re-birth of Multilateralism whose principles are founded on the respect of Independence, Sovereignty and Territorial integrity of individual of individual States. Zimbabwe is an exemplary country in Southern Africa that has endured for over two decades the effects of Western Unilateralism and its Rules-Based System. The country was unilaterally sanctioned, economy ravaged to a near collapse after the ruling ZANU PF government initiated land reform program meant to address land contestation between Caucasian settlers and Indigenous Black Zimbabweans. The actions of the Westerners in some quarters were described as devoid of logic and mere foreign interference in the internal affairs of Sovereign country with colonial mindset to instill regime change and reverse radical policies of the ZANU PF government. In 2007, the-then president late Robert Mugabe introduced the LOOK EAST seeking economic rescue and political survival of his ruling party ZANU PF, and with the BRICS in picture, Zimbabwe has to be decisive in its policies to benefit out of it. It is either Zimbabwe goes West or goes East. Currently, Zimbabwe has conflictual foreign policies, one leaning East and seeking BRICS membership, whilst on the right seeking Re-Engagement with the West and Admission into the Commonwealth Club where it was once kicked out of. Zimbabwe has to choose either it is in the Unipolar basket, a bandwagon of United of States hegemony or rides the waves with Multipolar boat. Advantageously the BRICS offers the world an alternative financial systems based on equality and mutual understanding, completely disconnected from United States built and controlled economy and political manipulated monetary systems, that have long sustained Western global dominance. US and European global impact has been successful because of that global dominance. Dominance sustained by mechanism developed to maintain that dominance. Now that new alternative systems are emerging that encourage equitable existence based on capabilities and resources, Western global impact will drastically be reduced. As for the Commonwealth, it long lost its global relevance and economic significance other than being a diaspora pathway for former British colonies to provide slave labour to the British economy but also opening resource-access for British corporates and companies which still enjoys having a foot hold in the former colonies. The World needs a fair World and Multipolar seems to offer that.
BRICS is the answer and MULTIPOLAR is the way out of all United States and European made global problems.
